Modern electron microscope can provide information at the atomic scale in the spatial dimemsion. The next generation of instruments will also provide temporal resolutions in the fs regime. This project will investigate solutions to providng temporal resoltuions from the ms to micro s timescale to bridge the gap between the limits imposed by current detectors and possible future pulsed electron sources. AS part of this project you will be involved in the development and application of new instruments at the Rosalind Franklin Institute and in a new UK wide project to build a relativistic electron microscope operating at fs timescales
The description above outlines a possible new research project being offered to prospective new postgraduate students.
