The University of Oxford's Astrophoria Foundation Year is a fully funded one year course for UK state school students who have experienced disadvantage or disruption during their education. It is for students that have been unable to the meet the academic entry requirements for their chosen undergraduate degree programme (e.g. A*AA for Materials Science).
There are a range of subjects are on offer through the programme including Materials Science. The grade requirements are lower than the undergraduate requirements and for Materials Science they are AAB at A-level. A number of other qualification types are also accepted.
The programme is fully funded. Tuition and accommodation fees are covered by the University and students receive a non-repayable bursary for their living costs.
Motivated students will be able to reach their academic potential through this supportive and challenging academic course aimed at developing their skills, self-belief, and academic confidence.
Students who apply for Materials Science with Foundation Year and pass the course at the required level can progress automatically onto the Materials Science undergraduate degree at Oxford without the need to reapply. Applications are submitted through UCAS and the deadline to apply for 2024 entry is on 31 January 2024.
