The Department of Materials offers six postgraduate courses (see below). The majority of students undertake the 3.5-year DPhil in Materials (known as PhD elsewhere). We also collaborate with colleagues, universities and industrial partners through four Centres for Doctoral Training (CDT) which offer 4-year DPhil courses in specific research areas. A small number of students each year apply for the 2-year MSc by Research in Materials.

If you would like more information on any specific projects please email the supervisors.
Write a statement of purpose that includes:
a list of up to four research projects (and the associated supervisors) in which you are interested,
listed in order of preference, selected from the projects available; and
an outline of your research interests (400 word limit), that clearly indicates the rationale behind your choice of projects.
