Many congratulations to Professor Sir Peter Bruce, who has been elected to membership of the German National Academy of Sciences, Leopoldina.

The Academy is the oldest continuously existing scientific academy in the world, and has extremely high standards of scientific excellence, counting such luminaries as Marie Curie, Charles Darwin and Albert Einstein among its former members.  Election to the Academy represents the highest academic distinction in Germany, acknowledging individuals who have significantly advanced their respective fields.

The election of Sir Peter to the Leopoldina highlights his influential work and substantial impact on the worldwide scientific community.  HIs research has profoundly advanced understanding in his field and facilitated numerous scientific innovations.

The mission of the Leopoldina to represent the German scientific community internationally and to offer science-based policy advice is in close alignment to the University of Oxford's commitment to promote international collaboration and influence policies through gold-standard research.  Sir Peter's membership of the academy will further strengthen the MPLS Division's global impact and dedication to scientific progress.
