J-integral analysis of the elastic strain fields of ferrite deformation twins using electron backscatter diffraction

In an ex situ (HR) EBSD study of Ferrite Deformation Twins in age-hardened duplex stainless steel with a novel method to select reference patterns for (HR) EBSD analysis.


J-Integral analysis was used for parameterising the elastic strain fields ahead of the deformation twins.  The elastic tensile field (KI) increased with twin thickness, and the in-plane shear field (KII) relaxed when the load was removed.
