AI Automatic Tuning for Quantum Computing

A multi-university and industrial team, led by Dr Natalia Ares of this department, has harnessed machine-learning to develop a highly efficient algorithm which overcomes the issue of small manufacturing imperfections affecting quantum computing performance.  


The researchers refer to the technique as 'Minecraft explorer for quantum devices' due to its behaviour of detecting the correct operating conditions within the parameters defined by the voltages, all of which is automatic and needs no manual adjustment.
