Many congratulations to Nicole Mitchell on winning one of the Best Poster Awards at the International Battery Materials Conference (IBA) in Singapore.
IBA is a leading global forum dedicated to cutting-edge research in advanced battery materials and electrochemical energy-storage systems. Held in Singapore, the meeting brought together more than 300 internationally recognised experts and researchers to share state-of-the-art findings in battery chemistry, materials science and cell engineering. Through plenary lectures, invited talks and active scientific exchange, the conference highlighted emerging innovations shaping next-generation batteries and supported collaboration across academia, national laboratories and industry.
Nicole's award-winning poster and presentation showcased the following research from her recent publication in Advanced Materials:
Influence of Ion Size on Structure and Redox Chemistry in Na-Rich and Li-Rich Disordered Rocksalt Cathodes
The work shows how the larger Na+ ion leads to lower-voltage Mn and O redox and causes the material to become amorphous on charge, and clarifies how ion size controls intercalation behaviour and structural stability in next-generation rocksalt cathodes.
This recognition at such a prestigious conference underscores Nicole's significant contribution to the field of energy-storage materials.
