JMS003 - Understanding the dynamics of colour centres in diamond at the single defect level using machine learning
Prof Jason Smith
Project Code: JMS003
Inline optical spectroscopy of diamond during laser annealing reveals a range of dynamic behaviour, elements of which can be attributed to individual point defects. Most of what is observed has yet to be understood, however: this project seeks to develop new tools that use machine learning to help unpick the observed phenomena, and to advance understanding of the structures and processes responsible.
The description above outlines a possible new research project being offered to prospective new postgraduate students.
