Dr Yige Sun is the co-author for this concept paper*, which explores how serviceability can address the challenges of achieving sustainability in the field of space exploration, whilst also strengthening commercial and operational outcomes.

Drawing on real mission examples and current technology readiness, the authors examine the engineering software, robotics and standards required to enable modular spacecraft, autonomous servicing and in-orbit repair, refuelling and upgrade capabilities at scale.
