Professor Saiful Islam
Many congratulations to Professor Saiful Islam, who has been selected by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IoM3) as the 2023 Robert Perrin Award winner.
This award will be formally bestowed upon Professor Islam during a special dinner in December 2023. It is in recognition of Saiful's outstanding and sustained commitment to Materials Science outreach activity. The decision-making panel took into account the sharing of best practise with colleagues, and Saiful's engagement in educational initiatives during his free time.
'I've always enjoyed my outreach and science communication activities for young audiences including the 2016 Royal Institution Christmas Lectures for BBC TV, the Education in Action schools talks using 3D glasses and the Guinness World Record for the highest voltage lemon battery using around 3,000 lemons!'.
