Professor George Smith FRS

Many congrulations to Professor George Smith FRS, who has been awarded the Royal Society Armourers & Brasiers' Company Prize.

This is in recognition of Professor Smith's work 'pioneering and leading the development of engineering alloys through the invention and application of the three-dimensional atom probe, making profound contributions to basic understanding and industrial applications'.

A special celebratory dinner will take place at The Royal Society's London headquarters during late November, when the medal and £2,000 prize money will be formally awarded to Professor Smith.
