Ella Greenaway: EMAG Best Talk 2025

Branding for the conference: the words 'MMC Series'

Congratulations to Ella Greenaway, a DPhil student in the STEM research group, for winning the Best Talk Prize at the Institute of Physics' Electron Microscopy and Analysis Group Conference (EMAG 2025), which is part of the Microscience Microscopy Congress and the Royal Microscopy Society.

We asked Ella how she felt about winning this highly coveted prize, and she told us:

"I'm incredibly honoured to received the Best Talk Prize at EMAG 2025.  Presenting my work at EMAG was a great experience, and I'm so grateful for the engaging questions and discussions it sparked.

My talk, titled 'Investigating the time dependence of the reversible oxidation state in ceria using electron microscopy' focused on exploring how ceria's oxidation states change over time under the electron beam, a key step toward understanding it catalytic behaviour in real-world applications.

A huge thank you to the organisers, my colleagues at Oxford, and everyone who came to the talk.  I'm excited to continue this research and see where it leads".
