Catalogues

Nearly all of the departmental books are catalogued on OLIS, the University's on-line catalogue. Items can be found under title, author, subject or keyword. The departmental journals are also listed on OLIS, with details of bound volumes held. OLIS can be accessed via OxLIP+ from terminals in the journals section of the library or from any other computer within the University domain. It is also available on the Web using GEOWEB.

OLIS is a union catalogue which means that it is possible to search for any publication held in any OLIS library from any location. Over 70 Oxford libraries are included. Instructions on how to use OLIS are given online and printed guides are kept near the terminals. Please ask the Librarian if you need help with the catalogues.

The card catalogue in the Book Room is mainly useful for finding pre-1975 theses and older publications on Permanent Loan to members of staff. The list of textbooks in a folder on top of the return box provides a quick guide to the textbooks in the Book Room. A similar list of the undergraduate reference books is placed in the Library Office. The list of journals on the side of the free-standing bookcase in the Journal Room shows the stack numbers for all the titles.

World-Wide Library Catalogues can be accessed by members of the University via OxLIP+.
