Origin

Origin is powerful data analysis and graphing software for scientists and engineers. http://www.originlab.com/.

Origin is now site-licensed for the whole university until 5-Aug-2013.

Origin is designed to work under Microsoft Windows operating systems, however it is possible to use Origin on a Mac running Cross-Over Mac taking care to note the tip/trick that you need to put three extra DLL files into the bottle. This has been done successfully for Origin version 8.0 and possibly 8.1, but version 8.5.1 gets stuck needing "RunAs Administrator" to register the license.

If you wish to have Origin software installed on a Department desktop, please email itsupport@materials.ox.ac.uk stating:
- your email address and phone number
- the hostname and IP address of the computer
(Start:Run cmd C:\> hostname; C:\> ipconfig )

If you wish to install Origin software on a home machine or any laptop please visit http://www.chem.ox.ac.uk/origin and follow the installation instructions. Make sure you register with your @materials email address.

See the Help menu for getting started with Origin, for help with Programming and for several useful Tutorials. Currently OUCS does not run any courses about Origin.

Troubleshooting

Laptop users please be aware the the Origin license was renewed on 5-Aug-2011. If you existing installation of Origin complains about licensing, try opening Origin and go to Help - About Origin - License - Get a license now.
